Dr Kamran Qureshi and Dr Iram Qureshi are the founders of the Intersex Database — the first-ever substantial research database dedicated to intersex-related art forms. They began collecting verified media representations of intersex individuals in film, television, radio, and theatre in 2016.

The database currently features 140 films, including both major and minor intersex characters, as well as shorts, talkshows and documentaries, spanning from 1932 to 2025. Over 70 of these are feature films in 12 languages, including English, Chinese, Italian, Hindi, Urdu, Spanish, Japanese, French, Swedish, and Cantonese.
